Concrete Pools are Customizable

A concrete pool can be made in any shape to fit into any space. The pool can follow the contour of your house or landscaping.

Concrete Pools are Beautiful

Concrete pools can become part of the overall design of your garden oasis. With countless possibilities of tile colour, shape and combinations, concrete pools can be pleasing to the most decerning eye.

Concrete Pool Construction Methods

Two Construction Methods of Concrete Pools

There are 2 basic methods of constucting a concrete pool:

  1. Form and Pour
  2. Gunite or Shotcrete

Form and Pour Pool Construction

The form & pour pool construction method lends itself to pools whose design is rectangular or a series of rectangles. In this method, after excavation, the shape of the pool is formed with a series of wooden or metal forms to hold the poured concrete in place while it cures. Once the forms are in place a “cement truck” comes in and fills the forms with concrete. The concrete is finished and left to cure before decorative tile is applied.

Gunite or Shotcrete Pool Construction

Gunite or Shotcrete are variations of sprayed concrete. In both processes the concrete mortar is pneumatically pushed through a hose and projected using a “gun” onto steel rebar mesh.

This method of concrete pool construction is well suited to pools whose design is curved or rounded.

After excvation the pool shape is laid out using a steel rebar mesh cage. The concrete is then “shot” i.e. sprayed onto the rebar cage which adds strength to the concrete wall.

Once the concrete has cured decorative tile or other finishing coating is applied to the concrete to create a smooth finish.
